ESNhub Established to Defend Eritrea’s Sovereignty Amid Escalating Rhetoric and Disinformation

The Eritrean Sovereignty Network (ESNhub) announces its formal establishment in response to escalating

rhetoric of war, unlawful claims on Eritrean territory, and coordinated disinformation campaigns that

threaten regional stability and violate international norms.

The Network is initiated and led by Eritreans in the diaspora who have long advocated for the rule of law,

accountability, and responsible governance in Eritrea, often through diverse efforts and initiatives. In

response to current external challenges, they are now united in defending Eritrea’s sovereignty and

territorial integrity, recognizing that sovereignty is the foundation upon which all other national aspirations

depend.

Recent statements from Ethiopian leaders asserting entitlement to sea access through Eritrean territory

have no basis in international law and undermine the fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial

integrity. Such rhetoric is illegal and destabilizing. The Eritrean people have already borne significant

sacrifices in defense of their sovereignty, and Eritrea’s territorial integrity is not open to renegotiation.

The Network is a diaspora-led civic network that mobilizes the collective expertise of Eritrean

professionals, scholars, and grassroots citizens to safeguard Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity

against escalating rhetoric with a singular voice. The Network operates through authoritative historical

documentation, established international legal principles, and fact-based advocacy, providing rigorous

analysis and exposing false or misleading narratives.

“Any rhetoric that normalizes the alteration of borders through coercion, demographic arguments,

or historical reinterpretation is dangerous,” ESNhub stated. “Such narratives risk destabilizing the

Horn of Africa and eroding the foundations of international law.”

The Network urges media outlets to uphold accuracy and avoid amplifying misleading narratives that

legitimize unlawful territorial claims. The Network also calls on Eritreans across the diaspora to join the

Network by contributing their expertise through volunteering and sustained engagement to counter

disinformation that threatens Eritrea’s territorial integrity, using facts, coordination, and lawful advocacy,

and by signing up for updates and participation opportunities.
